Born in Dallas, Clint Skinner left Bryan Adams High School in 1989 and went to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls that same year. He originally studied psychology but switched his major to history halfway through his education. In 1994, Clint graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in English. However, he soon discovered that he couldn't do anything with it. Clint sought to enter the field of teaching and failed at all his endeavors. He gave up this pursuit and decided to write about uncovered local history as a way of teaching the subject. While working in the retail industry, Clint managed to write and self-publish two history books. He found a way to escape retail and currently works at the Dallas Museum of Art, where he occasionally gets to do what he originally sought so long ago.
